Seeds of success for Brayton Academy allotment

As part of the Tesco Community Grant programme, funding for the allotment was secured by the local Brayton and Selby community, who rallied together to support the Academy's initiative through the Tesco in-store token voting system.

The allotment, which is located on the Academy grounds, will provide students with the opportunity to grow their own plants, fruit and vegetables in a sustainable and environmentally friendly way, whilst learning more about ecology.

Al Moon, Principal at Brayton Academy, said: “Thank you to our local community who supported the renovation of the Academy’s allotment. After three months of Tesco instore voting, the project secured the most votes and we are thrilled and grateful for the opportunities this funding will bring.

“The allotment will be used as a hands-on learning tool for students to help bring parts of our curriculum alive. It will also provide a calm area for students to focus on mental health and wellbeing and connect with nature.

“The restored allotment is set to be completed by the end of the school year and we look forward to launching this with our local community.”
